Our Ingredient Statement and Goals!

At A&Z Soaps we strive to provide products made from the best quality ingredients we can find!! One (or two) such ingredients are the Cocoa butter and Shea butter that we use in our soaps and other products!! We source ours from Baraka Shea Butter!! Founded by husband and wife team, Wayne Dunn and Gifty Serbeh-Dunn,  Baraka Shea Butter is a small Canadian/Ghanaian family owned business located right here in Canada on Vancouver Island!! The women who make Baraka Shea Butter are from Ghana and do everything by hand, using age-old techniques passed down through generations. Proceeds from their sales impact the families and communities involved in the process!! All Baraka Shea Butter is Community Certified Fair Trade. This means that the women meet annually to make decisions on payment, negotiations of price, a respectful and dignified relationship between Baraka and the women, along with support for community, family, youth, education and other priorities as identified by the women’s groups. My daughter and I are proud to be part of this endeavor!! Soon our Coconut Oil and Palm Oil will be from Baraka as well! Both are ethically and sustainable sourced and the Palm Oil is made from pure, sustainably grown and community harvested palm fruits and processed in a modern RSPO certified facility. Our fragrances are phthalate and paraben free!! The Micas we use to color our soaps are ecofriendly and biodegradable! The clays and other additives we use are also ethically and sustainably sourced and eco-friendly! We believe at A&Z that it is important to lessen our impact on the environment as much as reasonably possible!
